Devil’s Bridge - We completed this one in the late morning. It was relatively crowded with a line at the bridge, but with such gorgeous views, waiting for pictures on the bridge was minded by no one. The 4 mile hike itself takes just under 2 hours, not factoring in additional time spent at the actual “Devil’s Bridge.” The hike progressively works its way up an incline, getting steeper and more narrow as you get closer, but rock steps made it easily manageable.
Cathedral Rock - This was my holy grail hike of the trip. I had learned prior that Cathedral Rock has vortex energy, which is known for healing. Twenty-nine was a tough year for me, so I quite literally wanted these rocks to fix my entire life. This was our second hike of the day on my birthday, which we saved for sunset. This 1.2 mile hike is an incline the entire time, but absolutely worth it. The views at the top are breath-taking, with the sun’s rays radiating through the rock formations as it sets.
Bell Rock - .8 miles out and back, moderately challenging. There is a fee to park. Use AllTrails app as trail markings aren’t easy to follow and there is little to no shade.
Subway Cave at Boynton Canyon - I took a wrong turn and turned this 7 mile hike into 9. If done correctly this hike takes around 3 hours to complete and is rated moderate on All Trails. I brought my friend who had never gone hiking before here and she thrived. It gets a little hairy at Subway Cave, with the options up and down being a small rock ledge or climbing up and sliding down a rock slide. People of all ages, with some questionable shoe choices, were able to complete this hike and see the Instagram worthy cave. Highly recommend using All Trails app for this hike since the cave is tucked back in a red rock.
Birthing Cave at Long Canyon Trailhead - 2.0 miles out and back, beautiful moderately challenging short hike up to cave
Herkenham Trail to Skywalker - 4 miles, rated moderate, can access other trails from this one
West Fork - 6.5 miles, moderate, go early, shoes will get wet crossing a stream
Sterling Pass - 5.1 miles, rated hard
Courthouse Butte Loop - 3.6 miles, moderate, fee to park
Doe Mountain - 1.5 miles, steep short climb, $5 Red Rocks parking pass required
Airport Loop - 3.3 mile loop, moderate, very rocky terrain, exposed sun most of the hike
Baldwin Loop - 3 miles, moderate, connected to other trails
Seven Sacred Pools via Soldier Pass to Bring Mesa Loop - 5 mile loop, moderate, parking is limited and restricted Thursday to Sunday but a shuttle is offered from central Sedona for free. Very little shade on the hike.

Outback ATV- We opted for a half day adventure which included 4 hours and an IPAD map of trail options. Their site frequently offers discounts for online booking. They do place a $1500 hold on your card in case you wreck the ATVs, but they did mention it is hard to do so and they rarely use the hold. It disappears off your card in 24-48 hours after returning the ATVs. This was SO worth it, I highly recommend. There were a few parts of trails our ATV was climbing up large rocks on a complete incline, but overall we were able to let it rip on flatter trails. This was such a fun day!

We flew from Philadelphia to Phoenix. It’s about a 5 hour flight direct.
We rented a car through Turo, a personal car rental app, which was significantly cheaper and much more convenient than typical rental car companies. I highly recommend using this platform.
It was about a 2 hour drive from Phoenix to Sedona. It’s a stunning drive surrounded by red rocks on a small single lane highway.
We stayed at an airbnb right in Sedona. Everything was under a 20 minute drive away.
Sedona is a small desert town in Arizona, located 2 hours north of Phoenix and 45 minutes south of Flagstaff. It is known for its red rocks, endless hiking, spiritual energy, and outdoor activities. Sedona is a quiet town with noise ordinances in place after 10pm.
I went to Sedona for a long weekend with my best friends in November 2022 to celebrate my 30th birthday. All I wanted to do for my birthday was hike, relax, eat good food, and laugh with my friends. Sedona was perfect for this. I had the girls doing multiple hikes in a day, renting ATVs and eating at great restaurants with even better views.
The hikes we completed were Subway Cave at Boynton Canyon, Devil’s Bridge, and Cathedral Rock. Our Sunday funday consisted of renting ATVs through Outback ATV Adventure. This was such a fun day, I highly recommend!
One thing I was pleasantly surprised about in Sedona was the extensive menu options for people with dietary restrictions. Unfortunately I’m gluten free and finding options on vacation is not always easy. In Sedona, at Cafe Jose, I had french toast for the first time in years. At every meal I was overwhelmed with options catering to special diets.
The temperature in Sedona in November was mid 50s during the day - perfect hiking weather, dropping to 40s and even high 30s at night.
I cannot wait to go back to Sedona again and explore more of what Arizona has to offer. Still on my list to do: The Wave, Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, and Horseshoe Bend.
